Miller flies off to Phantoms
Thursday 6th December 2007, 11:39AM GMT.
Forward Joe Miller has left Telford Tigers to join English Premier Ice Hockey League rivals Peterborough Phantoms.Tigers team manager David Candlin said: “Obviously we are disappointed that Joe has decided to move on as he is an important and popular member of the team and we will miss him.
“But he has to do what is right for him in his career and we wish him well with his new team.”
Miller, 22, rejoined Tigers this summer after a season with Elite League Manchester Phoenix but, despite being Telford’s top British scorer, he feels he hasn’t settled back in as well as he hoped.
The Cardiff-raised left-winger said: “It was the hardest decision for me, especially with all the friends I have here. To walk away from that is tough. But sometimes you have to put other peoples feelings to one side and try to figure out what is the best for you.
“I haven’t fallen out with anyone and still have a great relationship with Dave Candlin and Claude Dumas as well as the players,” added Miller.
“But something didn’t feel right for me and I think I need a change of scenery to get back to enjoying my hockey.
“I do wish the Tigers well for the rest of the season.”
