Funding award for play schemes

Wednesday 5th December 2007, 6:09AM GMT.

A series of play schemes in Ludlow are to receive more than £200,000 in grants from the Big Lottery.

South Shropshire District Council’s executive committee yesterday decided the money would be spent at different locations.

Council leader Cecilia Motley said she was delighted funds were available.

Councillor Motley said: “We have done well getting the money from the Big Lottery. We are looking to spend it at a number of locations.”

Councillor Motley said the money would enhance play areas at Burford and Clun Memorial Hall.

There would also be a new play area in Clee Hill, the development of a play area in Brockton and a contribution towards the new skate park in Ludlow.

Yesterday’s meeting heard that the council would now enter into a series of legal agreements with parish councils, land owners and others involved in the schemes.
