Tudor on way back to Vale
Tuesday 4th December 2007, 11:44AM GMT.
Shane Tudor’s loan spell at Shrewsbury Town looks set to be curtailed without a game being played – for now.Manager Gary Peters today revealed he had reached an agreement with his Port Vale counterpart Lee Sinnott for the right winger to return to his parent club to receive treatment on an injury.
But Tudor – who has not been in action since reporting a tightness in his hamstring at the start of his opening training session at Town – is still likely to be back at Shrewsbury when he has fully recovered.
“In Shane’s first training session with us he felt the injury – it’s not a pull but it’s something from a previous injury which is causing him tightness,” said Peters, who has welcomed Chris Humphrey back into the Town fold after a one-month loan spell at Stafford Rangers.
“He’s going to a specialist Port Vale have got in London today and who has seen him before.
“Port Vale have done the honourable thing and they have said they won’t make us pay his wages during this period and he has gone back to them to get himself fully fit.
“That’s good from Port Vale and good for Shane Tudor because he wants to be here playing when he is fully fit.
“We can’t be responsible for a problem which was from an injury he has done in the past, and fair play to Port Vale for doing the right thing. As soon as he is fully fit we will be taking Shane back on loan.”
Peters and his staff will take advantage of the fact Town’s match against Macclesfield – scheduled for tonight – was brought forward to Saturday to run their eye over their League Two rivals.
The boss will watch Saturday’s opponents Notts County as they entertain Peterborough, assistant John McMahon will take in Dagenham’s home clash with MK Dons while physio Joe Hinnigan and chief scout Alan Fogarty will also watch games.
l Popular Town old boys Frank Clarke, Mickey Brown, Dean Spink and Dave Walton will attend a ‘Legends Question & Answer night’ in the Arthur Rowley Lounge at the club’s new Oteley Road stadium.
The event on Thursday starts at 7.30pm and is £2 for members and £5 for non-members. Tickets are available from Ian Venables on 07981 593437.
