Marsden on loan to ‘recover’

Thursday 29th November 2007, 11:41AM GMT.

Justin MarsdenStriker Justin Marsden is set to step up his AFC Telford United comeback by linking up with a lower league club to aid his match fitness. The pacy forward has been out of action since breaking a metatarsal in the 2-1 victory over Gainsborough Trinity on September 1.

But he returned to full training on Tuesday – and boss Rob Smith now wants to get him out playing within the next week.

“Justin will be joining in training tonight and the warm-up before our game on Saturday, and then we’ll be looking to get him a game or two elsewhere,” said Smith.

“I don’t think he’ll need any more than one or two games because his fitness is good. It’ll be great to get him back because he was in great form before he got injured.”

Meanwhile, Telford’s reserves won 3-0 away to a strong Bromsgrove Rovers side which included former Telford forward Gary Hay last night.

Gary Birch netted twice for the Bucks, including a first minute penalty, and former Stafford youngster Steve Thompson was also on target.

Defender Richard Teesdale came through the game unscathed and will go into the first team squad for the visit of Blyth Spartans on Saturday.

Midfielder Jamie Vermiglio could also be back in the fold for that one after missing last weekend’s FA Trophy victory at Buxton, with Smith reporting that his bruised ribs are recovering well.
