Whirlwind blown out in qualifier

Fans’ favourite Jimmy White will not be gracing Telford’s International Centre next month after being knocked out of the qualifiers for the UK Championships.

The Whirlwind’s miserable form continued in Prestatyn yesterday when he slumped to a 9-7 defeat to fellow Englishman Lee Spick.
White’s latest setback cost him a chance of taking his place amongst the elite 32-man field heading for Shropshire in snooker’s second biggest tournament which begins on December 8, and also further jeopardises his hopes of remaining on the main tour for next season.
Shropshire’s Adrian Gunnell will tomorrow bid to move a step closer a ranking tournament appearance in his home town in what he hopes will be the first of two qualifying games.
Gunnell meets Derbyshire veteran David Roe over the best-of-19 frames, with the winner taking on Welshman Matthew Stevens for a place at Telford on Thursday.

I’d have expected Jimmy to still beat the likes of Lee Spick.I think he’ll bounce back and qualify for other tournaments this season.Tournaments are never as good when he,s not in them.I’d still wildcard him for the Masters for entertainment value. He can still play a bit.
