The Maplin UK Championships begin in Telford on Saturday December 8 with all the world’s leading stars taking their place in the 32-strong field at the International Centre.
And World Snooker officials have revealed ticket sales are progressing well, particularly for the final stages of the competition which concludes on Sunday, December 16.
“It is almost a sell-out for the final and the semi-finals are going really well,” said spokesman Ivan Hirschowitz.”It’s a bit quieter for the early stages but there are still nearly three weeks to go to the tournament and I’m sure the people of Shropshire will continue to support the event.”
The configuration of the final line-up is set to become clear over the next week, with qualifying taking place at Prestatyn starting on Friday.
Telford’s Adrian Gunnell requires two victories if he is to make it to the final stages in his home town.
He is first in action on Tuesday.
