Flats are hit by arsonists

Friday 16th November 2007, 11:27AM GMT.

Arsonists are being blamed for a fire at a row of flats in Telford, just months after a suspicious blaze caused £35,000 in lost food and trade to the supermarket below.

The flats above Somerfield, Russell Square, Madeley, were targeted shortly before 10pm yesterday, after children were seen at the flats.

Supermarket bosses said the store was fortunate to escape any damage.

Sub-officer Paul Plant, from Telford fire station, said: “We found it difficult to access because the flats are boarded up. It was definitely arson.”
