Visit ‘the other Shropshire’
Tuesday 6th November 2007, 11:40AM GMT.
Join us on an off-beat tour of “the other Shropshire” as we take a trip around the photo-sharing website Flickr.com.
Our challenge was to find photos from places around the world which share their names with towns, villages and districts of Shropshire and Mid Wales.
We’ve included links back to all the featured photographers’ works on Flickr.com and we’ve started a ‘The Other Shropshire’ group on Flickr.com which other photographers can add to – click here to see it.
Do you know of any places around the world with Shropshire names and do you have any photos to share? E-mail us at internet@shropshirestar.co.uk.

There are quite a few Shrewsbury’s in the US. I now live in Shrewsbury Pennsylvania. I have looked up Shrewsbury on Mapquest, com and it shows eight Shrewsbury’s in the US. All on the eastern side of the US.
Shrewsbury PA is a small town about 45 miles north of Baltimore, Maryland and 15 miles south of York PA. It’s a dry town (no pubs). So no drunks, no vandalism and very little crime. we leavevour doors unlocked when we go out, what a change from Telford where I used to live.

Brian – Shrewsbury MO is not Eastern United States, rather Mid West, your quote All on the eastern united states is inaccurate

Point taken. It is indeed a Mid West state. What I intended to say was there doesn’t appear to be a Shrewsbury on the west coast of the US.
