Crowds out for hunting
Saturday 3rd November 2007, 10:10AM GMT.
Fox hunting supporters from across Shropshire and Mid Wales were out today for the start of the new season.
Hundreds of people were expected to show their support for country sports, with hunt officials claiming they would be operating within the law.
Members of the North Shropshire Hunt gathered today at 11am at Sansaw Hall, near Hadnall, for their first meet of the season.
Hunt master Ann Carding said she expected between 70 and 80 riders, as well as many more foot followers.
She said: “People don’t want to lose traditional country pursuits and there remains a massive support for all the hunts in Shropshire.”

You’d get great crowds for a public hanging, too, but that doesn’t necesarily imply that it’s a morally acceptable event.
Joking aside, hunts continue to meet and, if they are popular, it’s wonderful proof that the ban works – contrary to the bloodsports fraternity’s ranting, the country tradition can continue, just without the blood. So what’s the problem? And more to the point, dear ed, what’s the story?!

Why are the shropshire star reporting on this? It is a disgrace that the shropshire star appear to support this barbaric practice. The members of this hunt should not be interviewed or glamourised in the paper but they should be arrested. Disgusting.
What if I was sat in the privacy of my garden with my family and a pack of wild dogs ran onto my property causing injury to one of the youngsters playing there.
These foxhunters need to grow up and learn that they are not the only people who live in the country. Their arrogance is incredible, and the disturbance caused to the area is unnecessary.
