A Bridgnorth woman has been left devastated by the district council’s decision to flatten earth in front of graves at the town cemetery – mainly due to healthy and safety concerns.
Council workers have taken the top layer of soil off graves in order to remove health and safety worries over trip hazards.
This will also enable workers to cut grass using sit-down lawn mowers.
But Joan Greenhouse, whose daughter and her father are buried in the graveyard, fears that the work is unneccessary and will cause widespread upset.
Video journalist James Shaw was on hand to see the “repair” work for himself.

Dear sir
My late wife susan judd is buried in the graveyard, and i am upset that the town coumcil are digging up the tops of graves, for (as they say health and safety grounds)the thought of sit on mowers and the like going over the grave is disrespectful and i am certainly not happy with the situation. i will be writing to the town council to voice my concerns.
Yours sincerley
Mr C E Judd

Nothing to do with health and safety it is to save money cutting the grass.
We have bred a generation of cold hearted bureaucrats running this country and their only concern is profit and making themselves look good. Same type as those running (ruining)the NHS are running our councils.

i think its down right disgusting that the counil did not consult with the relations of those laid to rest before interfering with the graves i have both sets of grandparents and a auntie and uncle all laid to rest in bridgnorth and this most distressing
