For a man with no immune system, I’m doing alright.
- Bucket list Ben
Norton-in-Hales
Thursday 11th October 2007, 2:06PM BST.
Distance: Three miles
1. Start outside the church in the centre of Norton-in-Hales, then walk across the green to the Bradling Stone, before turning right past the Hinds Head and a road on the left, Griffin Close.
2. Turn left after the next house and continue along the left-hand field boundary to a lane. Then turn right onto this and continue as far as the remains of an old railway bridge before entering a large field on the left.
3. Go diagonally across the field, cross a wooden bridge and continue to a stile and gate in the far boundary. In the next field, continue ahead to another stile and then follow the left-hand boundary out onto a lane.
4. Turn left and follow the lane, crossing the old railway, to a junction and turn right towards Betton, passing Betton Hall. At the start of the village pass through a kissing gate on your left and continue across three fields to a gravel drive.
5. Cross it and the stile opposite, then go through the garden up to an enclosed path with the River Tern down on the right. Cross a footbridge and stile, walk towards the wall and turn left.
6. When the wall turns right, bear half-right across the field and make for the top left-hand corner to a gate; pass through and continue along the left before reaching a track which meanders back to the village. Continue ahead at the end to return to the start.
