Man still on life support

A man remains in hospital on a life support machine today after he was allegedly assaulted in Shrewsbury.

Matthew Walker, 27, is in a “poorly, but stable” condition in Hope Hospital, Salford, where he was taken after being treated for head injuries at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Wayne Leonard, 27, of Woodside Way, Monkmoor, appeared at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court yesterday charged with wounding Mr Walker, with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm in an incident in Howard Street, on Saturday. He was remanded in custody to October 8.
