Inquiry over disturbance at party
Monday 24th September 2007, 6:30PM BST.
Police officers were today continuing investigations into an incident which saw a gang of up to 50 youths go on a “riot” after a house party spilled out on to the street in Telford.
One of them, 16-year-old Shaun Thompson, was today recovering at home after suffering facial injuries, including a fractured nose, when he was set upon as he walked to a friend’s house.
His mother, Maxine Ledger, of The Crescent, Donnington, said her son was knocked unconscious in the unprovoked attack.
“He had just left his brother’s five minutes before and he was walking near to the Furnace Lane chippy. He was punched to the ground. They came and attacked him. He didn’t see anybody before.
“They just came from nowhere. He didn’t hear anything. They left him unconscious. There were eight of them stamping on him. One had a baseball cap. His face is a mess. He was flying kicked by one of them.”
Her son was due to return to hospital tomorrow for a check-up after having x-rays. She said she was angry about the attack.
It is understood the problems started after Polish neighbours complained about noise from a house party. The youths had gone away and returned with a larger group of people.
No arrests have yet been made but Telford police spokesman Chris Ammonds said there were many potential witnesses – several of whom were Polish and needed an interpreter – which they had to speak to over the incident.
Mr Ammonds said there was not a racist element to the incident. Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to call 08457 444888.

It certainly does make your blood boil.
Probably all ASBO’d out aswell – youths just dont care and their parents have no control over them.
Bring back National Service and rid the streets of some of the yob culture that exists.
