Lloyd in KO blow to title dream

Thursday 13th September 2007, 12:48PM BST.

boxing_gloves.jpgThe English title dreams of Shropshire boxer Mark Lloyd have been left in tatters – for now.

The 31-year-old plumber from Shifnal was due to face Nottingham’s Adnan Amar for the national light-welterweight title at Birmingham’s ICC in the prestigious Hope And Glory show on Saturday.

But current champion Andrew Facey refused to relinquish the title after doubts emerged over whether the Lloyd-Amar showdown would be sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control.

Amar has now pulled out of the fight altogether, leaving Lloyd to do battle with late Russian stand-in Volodymir Bokovski – who has won 17 of his 30 fights – over 10 three minute rounds for the International British Masters.
