The single-decker coach clipped a kerb, hit a lamppost and a tree and toppled over as it entered Newport Pagnell services on the M1 on Monday.

The driver, who had to be cut free from the wreckage, was breath-tested at the scene and arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of drink-driving and dangerous driving.

But Thames Valley police officers said they would not interview the 34-year-old until his is well enough.

Following the accident four people were taken to Milton Keynes General Hospital and three, a man and two women, were admitted with serious but not life-threatening injuries. One woman was later transferred to hospital in Oxford with a head injury.

Twelve people, including the coach driver and the Shropshire victim, were taken to Northampton General Hospital.

A 60-year-old man is still being treated there for cuts to his head. The woman from Church Stretton also remains in hospital. Another person suffered a cracked knee.
