Public supports war on dog dirt
Friday 31st August 2007, 6:02AM BST.
A Ludlow campaigner who launched a one-man war against dog owners who let their pets foul the pavement today said he had been overwhelmed by the public reaction.
Councillor Martin Taylor-Smith said he had been inundated with phone calls and congratulations messages from locals and announced a new “Golden Paws” scheme for owners who clean up after their dogs.
Yesterday he vowed to snap the offenders on his mobile phone and send the evidence to police or the district council so that it could be used in prosecutions.
He said today: “The reaction has been fantastic. We are adopting an iron fist and velvet glove approach. I’m the iron fist and I will take photographs if we see people whose dogs foul the pavement, but the velvet glove approach will include the launch of a new scheme.
“If people are clearing up their mess they will be given a rosette and entered into a prize draw.”

Is this what the world is coming to? Rosette and entry into a Prize Draw!? Commonsense springs to mind! Who is paying for the Rosette’s? Taxpayers probably! Why dont they take photo’s of people dropping rubbish? A new scheme springs to mind they can give them the Rosette and the entry to the prize draw! Get a life!

Billy Bob I suppose you are angelic are you! thought not.
Andrew is correct, it is a law which should be enforced. We have plenty of dog bins scattered around the place so there is no excuse.
I have on several occasions witnessed owners clearing up after their pets, obviously it isnt the best task to want to undertake but you would go to the toilet in the street yourself and expect others to put up with it?
