Spotlight on 999 calls at talks
Thursday 30th August 2007, 11:32AM BST.
Two special meetings were due to be held in Telford tonight. One is to discuss the future of the Shropshire ambulance control centre and the other to elect a parish council chairman after the previous one quit, along with her husband.
Linda Hodson, chairman, resigned from Great Dawley Parish Council, along with her husband Gary, both Liberal Democrats, after they walked out of a meeting of the council’s policy and resources committee.
The pair, councillors for about five years, took action after another member made a statement they did not agree with.
Tonight’s special meeting will be held at 7.30pm at Dawley House.
Meanwhile, residents from across the borough are expected to turn out to air their views on the controversial plans to close the emergency control centre at Shrewsbury.
The meeting will be held at Telford & Wrekin Civic Offices at 7pm.
