County ‘hotspot for UFOs’

Shropshire has emerged as one of the country’s UFO hotspots in the MoD’s 2006 “X-Files”.

Scores of sightings in the county were reported to the Ministry of Defence.
Over Shrewsbury, at precisely 6am, on January 30, “a light was seen travelling rapidly due south west”.
One witness claimed to have spotted “two extremely bright lights” on the evening of August 21.
And at 8.30pm, on November 25, “three sphere-shaped, bright yellow/white lights were seen on a clear night” in Newport.
The sightings are among about 100 reported to the MoD last year from across Britain, secret details of which officials have released under Freedom of Information laws.
The news comes after the Shropshire Star yesterday reported seeing a “giant sausage” in the sky above Telford.
The strange banger-like object was seen by people in Hadley, Dothill and Arleston.
Rachel Preston, from The Grove, Hadley, said she thought it was a Goodyear airship at first but soon realised it was something different.
According to the latest information, witnesses claimed to have spotted all sorts of unidentifiable objects and bizarre happenings in the skies including flashing lights, fireballs, changing colours, darting lights and glinting metal spheres – many convinced they had experienced a UFO sighting. Two people thought they had seen “an alien” outside their kitchen window in Hastings, East Sussex.
A “mothership” was spotted twice within a month in Barlaston, Staffordshire, while a “rotating silver pyramid” was seen in Sunderland.
Reports of unusual aerial phenomena date back to ancient times, but started becoming more common after the first widely publicised UFO sightings in America in 1947, the most famous being in Roswell, New Mexico.

yes one flys over my home every saturday ive been on board too, i was surprised to find the pilot was lord lucan he said he was abducted over 30 years ago and had no future on earth so went off with the little green men, and he even had a pet black panther he has to let that out for walkies now and again so i think thats the one people keep seeing all over the country,he told me he has all sorts of space ships sausage shape ,traditional saucer, and large rocket shaped ones.

I really shouldn’t get too excited about the chances of Shropshire being taken over by aliens…
I am aware of many active “ufo” groups in Telford and the surrounding Shropshire areas who regularly report these “so called” sightings to the local newspapers and anyone else who is stupid enough to listen. I am unfortunate enough to have had contact with many of these people on a personal level in the 1990′s and have been present during some of these so called sightings and other alleged paranormal events – trust me these people have absolute zero credibility on a personal or professional level.
My experience is that the vast majority of these people are complete “Misfits”. I guess that some peoples lives are so uneventful that they feel the need to impress(?) their peers by manufacturing or embellishing these supposed ufo sightings (which are often little more than lights, blimps, aircraft or clouds and other natural phenomenon).
I would also guess that the unfortunate fact that the MOD has monitored some of this fiction will only prove the whole UFO conspiracy in their twisted little minds and help to perpetuate some of these ridiculous myths to other people who are stupid enough to listen (one of which is obviously the editor of the Shropshire Star!).
Sorry to be such a killjoy, I am sure I will be shot down for my comments as there are many people who really, desperately want to believe in UFO’s – however I personally am a realist not a fantasist!

In response to the above posters, I am so fed up of hearing people’s accounts being shot down in flames. I know of several people who have seen UFO’s and who have had other strange experiences including my own son who saw two UFO’s just after Christmas last year. All these people are sane and level headed and not given to delusions or wanting publicity. No wonder others do not come forward to report sightings when they receive put downs like these! Just because you have not seen anything untoward does not mean that others are not genuine. Give people a chance. Well done to the Shropshire Star for highlighting this subject.

In November 2001 I saw a fireball that split into 3 and then split into 6 making a hexigon shape hovering a long way up in the sky. It happened when me and a work mate was traveling home from work in the works van, when he said to me “what the **** is that!” I looked across and saw what i thought was the sun, but looked the other way and the sun was setting in the west and these were east. This what i could only say was a fireball then split into 3 different fireballs and then from 3 into 6! It created a Hexigon shape and then they started moving around bizarrely before disapearing. I saw this in late November, Early December 2001. It happened Near Newbridge on Wye, which is by Llandrindod Wells, Powys.

Late evening of July 7th 2007 a convoy of approximately 40 silver/white orbs/discs travelled across Shropshire in a northerly direction. This has been confirmed by witnesses throughout Shropshire – from Dawley, Telford, going north via Montford Bridge, Baschurch & on upwards to Oswestry – Too low for aircraft – nothing reported by MOD that night – not erratic enough for lanterns & too white – lanterns tend to have an orange glow and do not fly uniformly or for over a period of approx 2 hours – possibly more – No sound at all – Any sensible explanations welcomed !!

To those who say this subject is for ‘cranks’ ‘mis-fits’ or whatever term they prefer I would kindly ask them to take their heads out of the sand and keep an open mind. Do not criticize what you can not explain or perhaps what you have not properly researched or gone into any real depth to find the truth on.
Do some serious unbiased research on the subject and you might well actually take your heads out of the sand…It is easy to dismiss what is not ‘normal’…
Can those who easily dismiss others sightings of what is called UFOs actually put hand on heart and say that I have studied the subject carefully and can safely say that there is nothing to it?….I rather think not. Indeed it is more a case of “Do not bother me with the facts or present me with clear evidence, my mind is made up”!
If you want proof then go to the Disclosure Project website and watch the 2001 disclosure project video. It is free to download and you will hear witness testimony from credible witnesses that would stand up in a Court of Law…Period.
These are Military and Civilian witnesses ranking from Colonels, Majors and senior FAA Officials, people who have guarded military installations, held top security clearances. People who have guarded nuclear weapons and in some cases had launch authentications. I ask you, do we regard these people as ‘nuts’…I think not!
So why might we be inclined to change our view when they tell us about what is termed UFOs, describe sightings of incredible things, deviate from the norm….?
To those sceptics I would say open your minds once again….
Of course 95% of all sightings can be explained, we accept that. It is the remainder of sightings that we are interested in.
To those who remain sceptics I would say this to you…Sure go on disbelieving, that is playing into the hands of those who control the status quo and do not want you to question anything or actually be ‘human’…keep on watching your football matches and so called reality TV shows…carry on believing what you are being conditioned to believe, keep your mind closed…after all life is easy to lead is it not.

Tuesday Night August 7th 2007 – approx 11 pm – Did anyone see the glowing red sphere in the sky over Shrewsbury – quite low in the sky, not moving or at least very slowly – I went outside a couple of times – over a period of nearly an hour – it eventually just disappeared -

all manner of strange inexplicable reports from the Public including senior RAF Officers I have to say that its about time we accepted the evidence which is in front of our eyes, and not dismiss so readily something that may have far more influence over the affairs of man thatwe can ever know.
The septics who profess the World in which we live is a sterile place

I live nr Much Wenlock and at approx 6.30 on the evening of 28/11/07 whilst walking the dog a formation of 3 craft flying in a triangle formation flew overhead in a westerly direction.Being a sceptic about such things I thought nothing of it however I continued to observe and decided to ring my wife at home telling her to go outside and have a look which she did and she was as puzzled as me.No noise,strange colours etc.I watched them disappear out of sight approx 10 minutes later I turned and they came in to view again heading back east towards the west mids but this time the movement was erratic and they were now 4 in number with the 4th appearing randomly then disappearing.I found this site as I was scanning the papers,news etc to see if there have been other sightings.

I saw it while looking out my window on either 30th Nov. or Early-Mid December, I couldn’t sleep, and I saw TWO pyramids, and even though it was dark, I could just about see they were silver and spinning a bit. Also, a normal light from our golf club was several colours when it was usually one, it all looked pretty real to me. Interesting, eh?
I also saw a fast moving object through the night about two or three years ago. It had a red light on it. It looked like it was going faster than a normal aircraft.

I am of spiritual inclination having been born with a gift to heal and also recieve communication from people who have passed into the next life, I’m not suprised by sceptical people and would say it is quite healthy not to accept everything you read or hear or even see.. However, it is equally unhealthy to be dismissive of everything, life is about balance and one will stunt their expansion or development by dismissing all. It’s certainly worth having a flexible or open mind.
Within the realms we live are most certainly many thing we cannot see such as atoms, bacteria or radiowaves and energy. We know all of these things exist even though generally we cannot see them. Radiowaves are a form of energy, an energy we cannot see; it is however physical as are spirits or ghosts it’s just a more subtle form of physicality. There are many strange forces at work, both for good and otherwise. Western governments (certainly American) are controlled by the Grey alien race as they have a link to the presidentual bloodline and wish to co-inhabit our world since there are many who wish to use our golbe as an incarnative holiday detination and base for their kind since they have destoyed their own planet (or at least habitational possibilities much like we are doing now to our planet).
The populous is controlled and kept down by governments of this world, we are not living our full potentially brilliant lives, we are somewhat stiffled and our creativity is numbed by the unnecessary laws and political entraptment and fear imposed to keep those in power at the helm. The government powers of our world are working toward a centralised world government which will have no-one to answer to, it will therefore be a dictatorship (wake up it’s happening in front of our very eyes)! Certain Goverments of this world have a great deal to gain by using false pretexts to engage in wars and supress whole nations in the name of precious comodities (oil). If Hitler had achieved even a fraction of what Bush has achieved then he would have been happy I’m sure. I do agree with you on this.
Also, I’m sure I hear things sometimes too, like in the wind and in the sounds of other things too. Of course, it’s best not to be paranoid as you know. And it’s true, it’s possible to heal people with a similar conscience, etc.
