Friday 20th July 2007, 10:29AM BST.

This picture of “Jackfield Band, 1903″ was e-mailed in by Paul France, of Coalbrookdale, who says the band was formed as a drum and fife band but became all brass in 1893.
He says: “I’m pretty sure the picture is taken outside Calcutts House in Jackfield. As to what the occasion was, I don’t know.
“The young man on the front row, William Ellis, a renowned cornet player in his day, was conductor when I joined the band in 1955. He died in 1969 in his 80th year.
“The picture carries the names of the musicians, back row, H. Bowen, J. Roe, John Goodall, J. Wilde, Isaac Ball, H. Gittings, H. Ball, J. Edwards, J. H. Hearn, A. Humphries (secretary). Middle row, W. Harrison, F. Ellis, A. Ball (jun.), G. Aston (bandmaster), Joe Goodall, C. Jones, not known, H. Wilde, A. Ball (sen.), F. Chadwick.
“Seated: R. Taylor, L. Wase, W. Ellis (present bandmaster), W. Hearn, T. J. Hearn, T. Gethin, E. Wilde.”
