Wentnor
Tuesday 17th July 2007, 3:42PM BST.
Distance: Four miles.
Terrain: An undulating walk on lanes, tracks and fieldpaths.
1. This walk starts at the lane junction at the north end of Wentnor village. Walk through the village past the Crown Inn, bear left at the junction past the church and walk downhill to a stile on the left.
2. Cross over and follow the right-hand boundary to a waymarked gate in the fence on the right. Pass through and walk half-left downhill to a footbridge; cross over, turn left and cross a stile on the right.
3. Walk to the right of four trees ahead to cross the stile in the far hedge. Continue ahead to another footbridge to the right of a plantation; cross over and walk half-left to a gate in the hedge. Pass through and walk to a stile in the top right-hand corner, leading into a lane.
4. Turn left along this lane and then right up a Tarmac lane and, after passing a farm on the right, turn left up a wide track which eventually passes another farm before reaching a lane. Continue ahead up this for a while, until reaching a stile with a Shropshire Way buzzard sign on the left, opposite Stanbatch Cottage.
5. Cross over and follow the right-hand field boundary past cottages and out on to another lane. Turn left along this and then right down the drive to Moor House. Walk past, and follow the left-hand boundary to a gate; pass through and walk up the field ahead to a gate in the top left-hand corner.
6. At the lane junction, follow the waymarked route through a gate on the left and over a stile.
7. Pass to the left of the tree in the centre of the field and follow the right-hand fence to a gate in the corner which leads on to a farm track. Follow this to the lane, and turn right to return to the start.
