Tuesday 17th July 2007, 11:39AM BST.
Chocolate giant Cadbury today apologised to the victims of a national salmonella outbreak after being fined £1 million for food safety offences at a factory near Leominster.
Cadbury, described by a judge at Birmingham Crown Court as a trusted household name, said it unreservedly accepted the financial penalty and had already spent £20 million to prevent a repeat of the poisoning.
Recorder Guthrie also ordered the chocolate firm, to pay costs of more than £152,000.

Whilst it is of course appropriate that Cadbury should be taken to task over its lax health and safety procedures, given that Cadbury’s have recently been cutting jobs, it’s very possible that the large fine will simply encourage them to cut back further, and perhaps at their Birmingham HQ. Possibly a shot in the foot by Birmingham City Council?

they should have been taken to task with the trades descriptions act as well, as their products are full of chemicals, fat,and preservatives and very little chocolate in its pure form.if it was chocolate it would look and taste totally different to the way it does now,———sickly greasey plastic.
