Seamer is only addition
Monday 16th July 2007, 11:28AM BST.
Shropshire have made just one addition to their squad for Minor Counties clash with Dorset as they seek to maintain their western division title challenge. The side are up to second in the table, just seven points behind leaders Cheshire, after their convincing 180-run victory at Oxfordshire last week.
And that has convinced the selectors to leave well alone for the next match with Dorset, which gets under way at Shrewsbury on Sunday.
Experienced Shifnal seamer Adam Shimmons has been brought back into the fold, having been unavailable for the trip to Banbury.
But the 12 that travelled for that one have all been kept in, and the final 11 will be selected from the 13 on Sunday morning.
“We’re hoping that we can keep a settled squad now,” said chairman of selectors Trevor Sheperd.
“We didn’t feel the need to change it too much – it’s been going well.”
The three-day game with Dorset had been scheduled to be staged at Bomere Heath, but was switched to Shrewsbury at the start of the month because of problems with drainage at the villagers’ ground during the recent poor weather.
Shropshire squad: James Ralph (captain, Shifnal), Andy Gray, Asif Sultan, Jono Whitney, Adam Shimmons (all Shifnal), Matt Tilt, Steve Taylor (both St Georges), James Taylor, (Kidderminster), Anthony O’Connor (Wellington), Jack Shantry, Rob Foster (both Shrewsbury), Attiq-ur-Rehman (Old Hill), Bruce Thomason (Smethwick).
