Road ignorance causes chaos

Monday 25th June 2007, 10:58AM BST.

Would the driver of a green tractor with blue trailer (registration number supplied), please take note – you do not own the road.

On Friday, June 15, between 4.30pm and 5pm, you pulled out onto the island by Carnelian Motors in Shrewsbury without any indication of where you were going, resulting in other road users not knowing where you were heading and causing confusion.

You then turned and went in the direction of Wem with no indication and proceeded on the Wem road at about 35mph, which was fine except it resulted in a backlog of about 30 cars.

I thought farmers had a courteous code to pull in and let cars pass, not this one.

There are pull-in places all down that road but not once did you make an effort, resulting in two cars risking overtaking, but others had to follow you at 35mph all the way to Wem town.

You didn’t even signal when it was safe for them to pass, no-one could see as you had a trailer on the back, it took half-an-hour to get from the island to Wem thanks to your ignorance.

As you entered Wem by the church you stopped at the junction where it is clearly marked to stay back to let oncoming traffic around – havoc again.

Then you approached the White Lion turning and caused chaos as you rounded the corner and took up all the road resulting in cars having to back up and some with nowhere to go, again all this with no indicators.

This dangerous behaviour is totally unacceptable, especially as farmers are the first to complain about everything.

As you have the number report it to the police. This is inconsiderate driving and shold be reported.

You where lucky to see a registration plate, many farmers can’t be bothered to display a number plater or lights. Makes you wonder how road worthy their farm vehicles are.

But I bet their range rovers and discovery’s are all in tip top condition.

POINTLESS REPORTING IT TO POLICE THEY HAVE TO WITNESS A ROAD TRAFFIC OFENCE SUCH AS THIS AND SPEEDING FIRST HAND

An incident such as this can be reported by the public, unlike speeding it does not have to be witnessed by the police. Issue will then be if they can be bothered doing anything about it.

Report it to the Police? Chief Supt Spencer cannot even be bothered to do anything about the vehicles which park on the verges and double yellows right outside his Malinsgate H.Q, the dozens with illegally altered number plates,or the stack driven by mobile phoners. He is too busy juggling statistics.trying to prove that the totally out of control crime culture which is Telford is Well Policed.

well name and address you must have avery slow and ancient car.
I often find if following such a vehicle, someone is glued to the back of it with two cars close behind him/her.
You then have a large hgv and three cars to overtake all at once, not easy on a b road.
Drivers should also remember that unlike a ford fiesta this type of vehicle will have to encroach on your side of the road when turning rihgt at the junction in wem.
It’s quite simple all you have to do is let him out before you get to close then everyone can get on their way.
I’m glad i dont have to drive a tractor.
