Kinlet
Wednesday 20th June 2007, 10:03AM BST.
Distance: Three miles.
Terrain: An undulating walk on lanes, field paths and forest tracks.
1. Start at Kinlet school, just off the B4363. Then walk eastwards and enter a large field which slopes downhill to a small wood at the bottom.
2. Walk down the left-hand boundary to a narrow tree-lined path at the bottom. Continue along this to a bridle gate leading into another large, sloping field.
3. Walk up the field, aiming for the right-hand corner of the wood at the top, pass through the gap and turn right along the field boundary to a stile.
4. Continue along the next field boundary, pass to the left of the cottage and cross a stile on to a drive. Walk up this as far as the lane, turn left and then right down the drive for Coppice Gate Holiday Park. After 400 yards, take the track on the right, which descends through the wood to a bridge at the bottom. Turn right along the track and follow it up to a junction with a wider track.
5. Carry on ahead but bear left as the path narrows and continue out on to the road.
6. Turn right along the road, turn right down Buttonbridge Lane and, at the junction encountered on the outward route, turn left up the drive and left again over a stile.
7. Follow the right-hand boundary to a stile in the hedge, cross over and walk down the field to a gate and stile at the bottom.
Continue up the right-hand side of two fields and pass to the left of farm buildings to a stile on the top corner. Then cross over, turn left along the farm drive and right on to the road.
8. On reaching a bungalow on the left, either continue along the road to its junction with the B4363 by the Eagle & Serpent, or turn right at the footpath sign and walk alongside two field boundaries to return to the school.
