Tilson in warning to Wolves
Monday 18th June 2007, 10:16AM BST.
Southend manager Steve Tilson has warned Wolves they will have to dig deep to land striker Freddy Eastwood.Wolves have had one bid, believed to be £1m, rejected for the prolific 23-year-old who is expected to leave Roots Hall this summer following Southend’s relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship.
Reports over the weekend claim Eastwood is on the verge of moving to Molineux for an improved offer of £1.5million, but Tilson insisted the man who has hit 65 goals in three seasons would not be leaving on the cheap.
“It’s all hollow speculation at the moment. Wolves have so far only made one low offer and that was immediately rejected,” Tilson said.
“The chairman doesn’t want to sell Freddy and an offer of £1.5million is well below the market value for such a proven goalscorer.
“For the time being he is a Southend player and that is fine with all of us.”
Norwich have also been linked with a move for Eastwood, who has one year remaining on his contract with the Shrimpers.
