Kingswood

Thursday 14th June 2007, 1:39PM BST.

Distance: Three-and-a-half-miles.
1. The start for this week’s walk is at the car park on the south side of the A41 at Kingswood, east of Albrighton.

From the car park, turn right up the A41 for about 90 yards, cross over to the drive to Park Farm and continue past a house and then the farm to the stile at the end.

2. Cross over and follow the left-hand boundary to a stile/gate; cross over this and turn right along the next field boundary before passing through a gate into a green lane.

3. Keep ahead at the first junction of tracks and after passing the riding school on the left continue on the same line through a wood and out on to another track which passes a small car park just before reaching a road.

4. Turn right along Strawmoor Lane to its junction with the A41. Next to the Foaming Jug pub cross over to the track opposite.

5. Continue ahead at the junction with a drive, turn right at the next junction, right at the fork and right again down a track alongside a wood.

6. At the T-junction continue ahead on a narrow path; pass through the bridle gate into a field and follow the left-hand boundary to a track which climbs to a junction with a farm drive at the top.

7. Continue ahead and follow a narrow path which leads out on to the A464; turn left to its junction with County Lane next to the Summer House pub.

As the name suggests, County Lane forms the border between Shropshire and Staffordshire.

8. Turn right up the hill and turn right down a track past the Old Farm and after passing another cottage walk on to Kingswood Common where a left turn through the trees will return you to the start.
