Burton is beaten

Shropshire-born jockey Richard Burton has lost the national point-to-point men’s championship which he had won for two successive years.
Burton had been well on the way to making it a hat-trick of titles before breaking his leg in a fall on May 12.
That has allowed the field to close in on him – and James Tudor, from South Wales, was crowned the new champion after riding his 35th winner of the season at Tiverton on Sunday to go one clear of Burton, now based at Tarporley.
The season ends on Saturday at Umberleigh, but no-one can catch 24-year-old Tudor with Burton sidelined and nearest other challenger Nick Scholfield on 25 wins.
Tudor becomes the youngest winner of the Fuller’s Brewery Trophy since John Bryan took the title aged 18 in 1978.
