County actor Max in horror flick
Monday 4th June 2007, 12:03PM BST.

One of Shropshire’s biggest celebrities plays a starring role in a terrifying horror movie.
Former Shrewsbury schoolboy Max Brown, whose family live in Porthill, hits the big screen this week in Paradise Lost, as hedonistic backpacker Liam who lands himself in trouble in the Brazilian jungle.
Max, 26, is making a name for himself on both sides of the Atlantic. He is currently filming BBC drama Mistresses.
He has already starred in Crossroads, and in teen soap Hollyoaks as heartthrob student Kristian, and narrowly lost out on playing the new Superman.
But Max, who splits his time between LA and north London with his actress wife Polly, said Paradise Lost was his biggest film so far.
He said: “The backpackers get themselves into a huge mess. It gets pretty horrific. I had a great time filming it.”
Max, who went to Shrewsbury Sixth Form College, will also star in Act of God with Poirot star David Suchet, a film he shot last year which is still being edited.
Despite all his big roles, Max still loves coming back to Shrewsbury and was home last week.
Paradise Lost is playing at Shrewsbury’s Cineworld now.

Another actor from the Midlands [Wednesbury], who I have written a book about, Richard Wattis, starred in a frightening horror film with Ava Gardner in 1969 called TAM LIN [aka in the USA THE DVILS WIDOW].
Ava played a female version of the Devil and Richard her spooky secretary.
