Naturist invite to council
Friday 18th May 2007, 10:15AM BST.
Town councillors are heading to a Shropshire naturist club for a social get-together but will not be stripping down to their birthday suits.
Members of Wem Town Council plan to attend an open evening of Wrekin View Naturist Club, based at Kenstone, Hodnet, but have vowed to keep their clothes firmly on.
The club, formed in 1963, has members aged up to 92 and family groups. It is holding the event on July 21 so people can have a drink and ask questions if they want.
Club secretary Brian Williams invited councillors to the night and many said they would try to go.
He said in a letter: “Pleased be assured there will be no nudity on this occasion, just some very friendly people waiting to answer any questions you may like to ask.”
Mayor, Councillor Nancy Wilson, said she would be going but added: “We will all keep our clothes on.”
