Youth hurt in bottle attack

A teenager suffered severe facial injuries after he was attacked in Wem by two youths wielding bottles.
The victim, who is believed to be in his mid teens, was with a number of youths when two of them turned on him.
He was attacked in the town’s High Street, near the train station.
Police said he was hit in the head and face with bottles before more bottles were thrown at him, knocking him to the ground.
He was then kicked in the back by the attackers.
The incident happened between 12.15am and 12.25am on Sunday.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault on the teenager.
Officers said the offenders made off following the incident in Wem town centre.
They said the teenager managed to get home before his family took him to hospital where he was treated and released.
Constable Dave Carpenter, the investigating officer, said: “The victim suffered severe swelling to his face and needed hospital treatment.
“We are examining CCTV footage from the town and are keen to hear from anyone who saw this incident to get in touch.”
