Sighting of ‘big cat’
Wednesday 25th April 2007, 5:54AM BST.
A family from Telford believe they are the latest people to spot a big black cat in the area.
Gary Sharkey, 41, and his daughters Ashleigh, 13, and 10-year-old Abigail, saw the animal from their car while on the A5223 Wellington Road on Sunday.
They were going home to Hurleybrook Way, Leegomery, at about 10.15pm when they spotted the animal. Hadley Learning Community pupil Ashleigh said it ran in front of the car then stood beside the road.
“It had rounded ears,” she said. “It looked like a big cat and it was black. We watched it then it went up a really steep hill into the bushes.”
Police confirmed they had received a report of a sighting.
