Ordeal of veterans was terrible

It was an ironic coincidence that you should have published in the Shropshire Star on April 10 the article concerning the release of the Faye Turney and the article relating to the World War II veterans, Trevor Keeling and George Reid.
The ordeal of Faye Turney was very unpleasant and must have been very unnerving for her, but the experiences of Mr Keeling and Mr Reid were horrendous.
Mr Reid had taken part in the D-Day landings and Mr Keeling had been shot down over Brunswick before experiencing the horrors of the long march.
Mr Keeling states that it was a long time before he could bring himself to talk about his experiences.
This does not seem to be the case where Faye Turney is concerned. In view of the alleged large sum of money said to have been paid to her for her article, it begs the question how much did the Shropshire Star pay Mr Keeling and Mr Reid?
From someone who is very grateful to the thousands of men and women who went through the terrible experience of the war.
