In December 2004, Naomi Oreskes of the University of California
at San Diego wrote a report in the leading journal, Science, and analysed a sample of 928 papers published in scientific journals between 1993 and 2003 under the keywords "climate change".

http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686

NOT ONE of the papers disputed the consensus position that climate change is happening.

I feel that, on the subject of climate change, it might be best to listen to the IPCC scientists rather than W F Kerswall of Picklescott, if we are concerned about our children's future.

It seems to me that environmentalists ( Gore is the prime example) don't walk the talk. Until these alarmists alter their own lifestyles then there is no reason for the rest of us to listen.

There is little doubt we are going through a phase of the planet getting warmer. However, the scientific reasons behind this are far from determined. There is much credible evidence that climate change is caused by solar activity, yet almost all of the publicity we see in the media favours the theory that all of this is man-made. In order to take a view on the matter it's important to bear in mind that groups such as Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth are skilled political operators, with their own agenda, and they will happily use propaganda to further their own views.

Clearly we have to develop strategies to cope with this change - if we spend all our resource imagining that we can stop it all by recycling and not travelling anywhere we may well be kidding ourselves. It's really not good enough to introduce emotional phrases like 'saving the planet', or 'our children's future' - what we need is a balanced review of all of the science behind this without the interference of assorted bands of malcontents.

The malerial mosquito has already begun to move north, and is a fairly common sight in southern Europe. Not much danger yet, but when its human counterparts start to arrive in numbers ,this will provide hosts from which to spread the infection.and tons of nice white skin with no immunity at all.
In 1960 some scientists predicted a gradual increase in world temps till at least the millenium.

the uk produces 2% of the worlds co2 emissions, what difference would it make if we got it down to 1%. its just another way for the government to make more money in taxes, and the wooly jumper brigade can jump on their bandwagon while the common sense majority have to bite their lips and pay the tax money

More and more is being learned about global warming all the time, and while scientists will on principle never claim any prediction is certain, the evidence from all over the world is that global warming is real, its effects are being felt already and that it will continue to worsen in the future, potentially leading to cataclysms.
It seems likely that people will use global warming to further their own agendae, but dont let that fool you into thinking the science is bogus, sadly it isnt.
