A woman was taken to hospital after being rescued from a pool in Telford this afternoon.

The woman was pulled from Apley Pool, opposite a sandwich bar on the A442 Queensway in Telford.

Daphne Lewis, a spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said the woman was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford for treatment.

She said paramedics received an emergency call at about 12.40pm.

Mrs Lewis said: “We initially understood that somebody may have drowned in the pool but when we arrived she had been rescued.”
