All 34 seats of South Shropshire District Council are up for re-election, although not all are being contested.

The council is currently hung, with the Liberal Democrats and independents working together as the controlling group.

It is made up of: Liberal Democrats 14, Conservative 12, South Shropshire Independent Group 2, Independent Group 5, and one unaligned member.

A number of big name councillors are standing down. Ludlow MP Philip Dunne, Ludlow businessman Graeme Perks, long-serving Bitterley man John Wheeler, charity worker Jean Jarvis and Church Stretton businessman Bill Shaw are among those who are not standing for re-election.
