hall_danny1.jpgTickets for the last ever football game at Shrewsbury Town’s Gay Meadow stadium go on general sale today.

The historic match will be played against Grimsby Town on May 5.

The tickets were due to go on sale after today’s game against Milton Keynes Dons.

They have already been available to priority card holders, Super Blues members and disabled supporters.

Grimsby Town has agreed it will only take its seated allocation, meaning an extra 1,500 standing places at the Station End will be available for Shrewsbury Town fans to say goodbye to their stadium.Town secretary John Howarth said: “We know that there will be a lot of interest from fans who want to attend the game and they now have a good period of time to allow them to buy tickets for this game.

“There has been a lot of planning gone in over the last year or so for this game and we have a fitting programme of events on the day.

“We have been in contact with many of the ex-players to attend the match and the response has been fantastic.

“We would like to send our sincerest thanks to Grimsby Town for agreeing to our request.

“The possibility of Shrewsbury Town making the play-offs won’t affect the importance of this match, whatever happens it will still be the celebration of the club’s last Football League game at the Gay Meadow.”
