Jarvis Cocker set for V-festival
Tuesday 27th March 2007, 11:50AM BST.
Jarvis Cocker is set to perform at the V Festival, on the Shropshire border, for the first time in 11 years. The former Pulp frontman inspired the idea of the two-venue event back in 1995.
He said he would like to play two outdoor gigs in two days, allowing fans in different parts of the country to see the same band.
Pulp’s promoters came up with a plan and the first V Festival took place the following year.
Jarvis Cocker has not performed at the festival since, but is set to return this year as a solo artist.
V Festival organisers also announced Dizzee Rascal, Ocean Colour Scene, Beverley Knight and The Cribs were due to perform.
The Killers, Foo Fighters and Snow Patrol are headlining the event over the weekend of August 18 and 19 at Weston Park, on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border, and at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, Essex.
Lily Allen, Kanye West, The Fratellis, Kasabian and Babyshambles are also on the bill.
Festival director Bob Angus said: “V Festival is all about having something for everyone and these new acts represent this ethos perfectly.
“Plus, with another 50 acts still to be announced, we’re on track to what we are confident will make up one of the strongest line-ups in history.”
