What a Relief
Friday 16th March 2007, 10:26AM GMT.
I’m not sure why there is a trend in the national newspapers to slate things like Red Nose Day.
Flicking through the tabloids this morning, virtually every TV critic (those who can do, those who can’t . . . etc) was having a pop at Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, or the telethon itself (pretty impressive as it hadn’t even been screened when they wrote their pieces).
What was the point of it? It’s only once every other year, and if you don’t like it (as the kids of Why Don’t You..? once confusingly told us) just switch off your television set, go out and do something less boring instead.
From our point of view, Comic Relief is a godsend. A chance to dress up a page on a Friday – and again on a Saturday – with great, colourful pictures showing off some of the wacky and wonderful things the big hearted people of Shropshire get up to.
More power to Comic Relief’s elbow. Now where’s my red nose and novelty ears. And NO – I’m NOT already wearing them . . .

more power indeed—if it wasnt for charitable events/fundraising, ect, many organisations and hospices would be none existent,
my beef is there shouldnt have to be fundraisers for, hospitals ,respite carers, ect, ect
it is the governments job to provide, but no: millions a day is wasted elswere and worldwide instead
