Woman airlifted to hospital

A woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a car crash in Telford.
The 57-year-old woman had been driving a silver Peugeot 106 along Church Street, Hadley, when the car was in collision with a Mercedes 500 SL travelling in the opposite direction.
The woman was airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham where she remained in a critical but stable condition today.
Constable Stuart Ind, of Telford police, said officers were keen to speak to the driver of a white van who stopped at the scene.
The accident happened at 2pm yesterday in Church Street at the junction with Marlborough Road.

Meanwhile, police were today continuing their investigations into a crash near Newport, which left a man in his 60s dead and a lorry driver in his 40s with shock.
The victim was certified dead at the scene of the accident, which happened on the A41 near to Woodcote Hall at the junction with an unclassified road to Lynn.
Police were hoping to release details of the man’s identity today. Paul Rhodes, deputy assistant coroner for Telford & Wrekin, has been informed of the death.
The accident on Friday shortly before 5.30pm led to the road being shut for several hours while the vehicles were recovered.
