A man was hit by a car on a Shropshire road which knocked him into a hedge. The pedestrian, in his 40s, was in a collision with a blue Jaguar.

It happened at Mile Bank, Whitchurch, at around 10.20am and paramedics, the air ambulance and police were called to the scene.

Ambulance spokeswoman Daphne Lewis confirmed the emergency helicopter was stood down and an ambulance from Market Drayton was in attendance.

The man was found to be uninjured after being checked out by paramedics.

She said: “It was a glancing blow which knocked him into a hedge.”

Police spokeswoman Maria Hawkaluk said: “We had a call at 10.20am to Mile Bank, in Whitchurch, following reports of a road traffic collision between a pedestrian and a car.

“The car was a blue Jaguar. The pedestrian was not seriously injured but was checked over by paramedics.”

The driver of the Jaguar stopped after the collision.

* In a separate accident on a road near Market Drayton today a woman suffered minor injuries following a crash between a lorry and a car.

The accident happened on the Longslow to Calverhall road at 8.46am between a silver Audi and a white and black Volvo tipper lorry.

Miss Hawkaluk said the collision was between a car and a lorry and the minor road was blocked for a short time while the vehicles were recovered.

She confirmed a woman who was the car driver had received minor injuries.

Shropshire Ambulance Service confirmed they took a patient with minor injuries to the Princess Royal Hospital.
