Chilcott to speak at dinner
Tuesday 27th February 2007, 10:26AM GMT.
Bath and England rugby star Gareth “Cooch” Chilcott will be guest speaker at a Shropshire sportsmen’s evening which will raise cash for the Shropshire Star’s Flying Doctor Appeal.
Chilcott, who also played for the British Lions, will be speaking about his lively career at the 19th annual sportsmen’s charity dinner held by the Rotary Club of Wellington.
The club has decided that half of the proceeds from the evening will go to the Appeal.
The event is on March 15, at the Telford Whitehouse, in Watling Street, Wellington, at 7pm for 7.30pm.
It will be a black tie event, with tickets costing £30. Tables for ten are available.
Chilcott’s rugby anecdotes have been enjoyed at sporting and company dinners all around the country. A natural entertainer – he even does panto – he is one of the game’s most recognisable characters.
Tables and tickets can be reserved by emailing David Lovatt, the club president, on pres06@

The Shropshire Star’s Flying Doctor Appeal aims to raise £70,000 to fund a Flying Doctor to join the crew of the Shropshire-based air ambulance.
A Flying Doctor would take the helicopter’s on-board medical skills and life-saving capabilities to a new, heightened, level which could make all the difference in emergencies.
Our appeal is a specific, targeted appeal on top of the “normal” fundraising for the air ambulance, but once the target has been reached to pay the set-up costs, the Flying Doctor will be a permanent feature of the service.
