Lee WhitfieldTelford’s Lee Whitfield is going strong after maintaining his unbeaten full contact kickboxing record with an impressive victory over Michael Bogusz of Coventry Freestyle.Whitfield’s success in front of a capacity crowd at Wulfrun Hall in Wolverhampton saw him claim the ISKA Midlands Area PRO Super Middleweight title.

He was cheered on by a large contingent of extremely vocal supporters and put up a strong display under the watchful eye of trainer and former world champion Fran Zuccala.

The 21-year-old produced a powerful array of combinations to defeat the more experienced and thoroughly relentless Bogusz, whose best efforts could not overcome Whitfield’s technical supremacy.

And the Shropshire man’s supremacy over the five-round contest saw him claim a unanimous points decision.

Whitfield, a former dual British Champion in light continuous and member of both the WAKO & IAKSA Great Britain teams, stepped up to full contact last year – securing four wins from four fights with performances that earned him the accolade of ‘one to watch in 2007′ .

While being entitled to defend his area title, Whitfield now hopes to have the chance to fight for an English or British pro title later in the year.

His own club Bai Lang Martial Arts, based on Hortonwood, is also rapidly gaining widespread recognition.

“This year has started tremendously well but there’s much more to come,” he said.

“Aside from my own personal ambitions, the quest has already begun to get at least one of my fighters ready for Olympic inclusion and with nine British and European Junior Champions in training the possibility is very real.”

For students wishing to train with the champion, Bai Lang Martial Arts can be contacted on freephone 08000 436 936.
