Originally forming part of the old Guildhall and used as the chartered surveyor’s office, it was beautifully transformed by Morris Properties 12 months ago into a gorgeous home that blends contemporary style with original Georgian features.

These include high ceilings, brick paved floors, picture rails, heavy wooden doors, coving, picture rails and dado rails.

Number 10 has history, bags of space and character, secure private parking, a courtyard garden and intercom entrance system.

Positioned in the centre of town, it is ideal for town centre living and has a selection and wine bars and good restaurants nearby.

As its owner Lisa McNally wants to downsize, she has put her home up for sale through Cooper Green of Shrewsbury for £440,000 with no chain.

It has a porch, entrance hall, cloakroom, store room, living room, dining room, large kitchen/breakfast room, master bedroom with en suite shower room, two further double bedrooms, bathroom, separate wc, outside store and courtyard garden.

house2.jpgLisa, sales director of Nasus Mechanical Handling, bought number 10 off plan while Morris Properties were converting it.

She said: “When I walked in the windows were boarded up. I knew that I wanted it as soon as I walked into the hall and shut the door behind me.

“It was so quiet and you felt like you were in a grand house in the country, and its walls are so solid.”

As the works were ongoing Lisa was able to choose the kitchen and appliances she wanted, as well as the bathroom fittings, carpets and tiles.

Both the kitchen and bathroom/en suite are very modern, and the house is furnished throughout in contemporary style.

Lisa decided to have two sets of French doors added to the dining room, which lead out to the living room and kitchen. She also had a contemporary wood burner added to the living room.

Lisa said that Morris Properties used local companies and craftsmen when converting the building.

She said: “I think this is ideal for professional people or a retired couple.

“St Mary’s Street is a lovely street and you just open the front door and you’re in town.

“I’ve really enjoyed living here. I love the town centre living, it’s so convenient.”

Lisa said there were just 14 homes within the development and they were like “a little community”.The front door with security intercom opens to a porch with brick paved floor and into the entrance hall, again with brick paved floor, original decorative archway and architrave.

To the right of the hall is a useful dry storage area and at the end of the hall are a cloakroom and under-stairs storage space and a door out to the rear of the home.

The kitchen/breakfast room, dining room and living room are all to the left of the entrance hall.

The kitchen/breakfast room lies at the back of the house and is a truly stunning space.

French doors lead to the dining room with feature glazed tile fire surround and then to the living room with slate tiled hearth and a Morso wood burner.

A turned staircase from the rear of the entrance hall leads up to the three double bedrooms – the master with an en suite shower room – bathroom and a further separate wc.

Outside a gate from the rear opens to the walled and hard landscaped courtyard.
