Car parks due to shut for repairs
Wednesday 14th February 2007, 1:40PM GMT.
Bridgnorth motorists face disruption from next week when three car parks in the town are closed for vital repairs.
Listley Street North car park will be closed from February 19 to 23.
Once this work has been completed contractors will move on to Listley Street South and then Innage Lane.
Only one car park will be closed at a time.
Bridgnorth District Council officers expect the programme of repairs and improvements to be complete by March 2.
Eleanor Harris, spokeswoman for Bridgnorth District Council, said: “We are having to shut the car parks for health and safety reasons while the work is carried out.”
The work is being done by Fitzgerald Civil Engineering Contractors.
The programme includes repairs to damaged car park surfaces, alterations to the existing bay layout to improve parking provision and the creation of extra spaces, as well as improvements for disabled motorists.
Bridgnorth District Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
The authority said it wanted to thank members of the public for their patience while the improvement work takes place.
Miss Harris added: “We are just asking motorists to bear with us and avoid the car parks when they are shut.
“These are vital repairs that need to be done and completed when motorists are not using them.”
She said: “The car parks will not be closed all at the same time.”
