Liza Barraclough, of Church Close, Madeley, got herself out of her wheelchair at Wellington Retail Park and into her car.

But when the 63-year-old arrived home at 1pm yesterday she realised she had left her wheelchair behind. She returned to the retail park to discover thieves had stolen it from where she had parked.

She said: “I had parked my car in a disabled space in Tesco’s car park. When I went home my husband checked the car and realised it was missing as we had forgotten to load it in the car.”

Mrs Barraclough rang Tesco, but supermarket bosses said it had not been found.

The wheelchair, valued at about £600, is described as wider than standard with blue metalwork and elastic straps to attach her walking stick.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Telford police on 08457 444888.
