Feeling ill? Oh, yeah…

napoli.jpgWe wondered why one of our colleagues suddenly declared she had to go home yesterday because she was feeling ill, writes our News Blogger David Burrows.

Acting news editor Vickie Woodward claimed she was feeling dizzy and would have to leave (it took a cast of thousands to arrange to her to get from Telford to her Shrewsbury home).

But later on the real reason for her departure became clear. Vickie, a dedicated reader of gossip mag Heat, spends a lot of time talking about clothes. And shoes.

Then came the news on the wire that among the items washed ashore from the NSC Napoli off the coast of Devon were a load of designer shoes. Putting two and two together…

And that is the problem with all the people who really have turned up in their droves. Instead of the national newspapers running stories about the environmental impact of the ship running aground, it has become a bit of a joke about the scavengers laying their hands on anything they can get.

Their presence, according to one expert, has increased said environmental impact by 800 per cent.

Still, at least someone got a free motorbike out of it.
