Tributes have today been paid to a Shropshire man who died in an accident in Egypt. David Tansell died when the minibus in which he was travelling overturned.

He had been on holiday with his wife Kim and son Ashley.

Mrs Tansell, Ashley and another passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital following the accident on Friday in Sinai, near to the Suez Canal.

Mr Tansell, who was in his 40s, had lived in the quiet village of Brimfield, on the outskirts of Ludlow, for about six years and was described by neighbours as a quiet man who spent a lot of time with his family.

Stuart Gaskarth, of Marcle Orchard, Brimfield said: “It’s tragic that a family holiday should end in such a way. The family kept themselves to themselves but were always very pleasant. Our thoughts now are with their relatives and we all wish them well.”

Another neighbour, who lived close to the Tansells’ home and asked not to be named, said the family had lived in Marcle Orchard for about six years.

He said they were always pleasant and polite and although they were a private family they always had time to stop and say hello.

Another resident, who asked not to be named, said: “This is a quiet village and it is a tragedy for us. You only ever seem to read about these things but you never expect it to happen so close to home.”

The accident came just a week after a party of Shropshire schoolchildren, teachers and parents were involved in a coach crash in the French Alps.

Max Bishop, head of IT at Kingsland Grange School, in Shrewsbury, was seriously injured and remains in hospital in Grenoble.
