Back to normal (ish)

car_key2.jpgSo that was Christmas then. Good, wasn’t it? In Shropshire Star land we’re getting back to normal after the struggle to fill papers over the festive period, writes our News Blogger, Dave Burrows.

But it appears some of us are taking a little longer to get into the swing of things than others.

One of my colleagues, who works in our Bridgnorth office (I won’t name him here, but Simon Alton knows who he is) noticed his car was playing up, so decided not to risk taking it in this morning.

Instead he borrowed his partner’s car and sent her off to work with his. She, you see, works at the head office and was better placed to take it to the garage to get it checked out (also, I think he may have a phobia of mechanics).

What Simon had forgotten was that, in his ordered, tidy mind kind of way, he keeps his office keys on the same keyring as those for his motor. Which means although he got to work in plenty of time, he then had to hang his head in shame while phoning his news editor to admit he was locked out of the office.

Still, at least his partner hasn’t been roundly mocking him for most of the day.

That would be awful.
