Employment is temporary

Well, Christmas is at an end and so too are a lot of temporary jobs that it helped to create, writes Teen Blogger Rhian.

Temp jobs are ok. They allow you to buy the stuff you want and give you something to write in the ‘previous employment’ section of a job application or a CV, but they are not ideal.

I don’t think the prospects for teenagers to find good jobs are very hopeful for 2007.

A lot of jobs are disappearing in Telford and sometimes it’s because local workers are being laid off and cheaper, immigrant workers taken on.

With the cost of housing and finding somewhere to live going up and up, the outlook is pretty bleak for a lot of teenagers.

I think there is already a hardcore who are too lazy to look for work because their parents pay for their needs or because they aren’t getting the right support and think it’s hopeless.

Then, there are those who have got into drugs and make an income from selling them or stealing things. It’s worrying and I hope the politicians are taking note.
