Peters bullish on derby clash

Shrewsbury Town boss Gary Peters is relishing a fourth crack at Hereford United this season, insisting: “We’ve been the better team in every game.”
Tomorrow’s noon kick-off looks set to beat the weather, with club bosses revealing that all water is off the pitch and – while it remains wet under foot – it is currently playable.
That is is great news for Peters, pictured, who feels Shrewsbury have not had the results their football has warranted in the three games with the Bulls so far. They knocked their Edgar Street rivals out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, but were beaten after a replay in the FA Cup.
“We’ve enjoyed some good performances against Hereford,” said Peters. “The first one (in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy) was a very good performance.
“Our second (a 0-0 draw in the FA Cup) was probably our poorest, although we still felt we did enough to win it.
“In the replay we gave our best display, where we felt we were the better side and we got done in the last few minutes for them to go 1-0 up.
“Obviously we went into attacking mode then and we shipped another one right near the end.
“We’ve enjoyed all those games though, and we’re looking forward to another good battle tomorrow.”
Town beat Chester City 2-1 in their last Gay Meadow outing, but have since followed that up with a 3-3 draw at Accrington Stanley and a 2-1 defeat at Grimsby last weekend.
But Peters has been pleased with his side’s efforts in those three games, apart from their defending at Accrington which saw them surrender the lead three times.
“In all three games we’ve not been that unhappy with the performance but we need to get results because that’s what we’re judged on,” he added.
“In the Grimsby game in particular, it was a super second half performance and we were by far the better team and even their own people admitted we should have walked away as comfortable winners.
“We worked hard to get the Chester game on last time and it was worth it as we got the three points. We want this one on just as much.”
Peters has no new injury worries to contend with, though defender Danny Hall will be serving a one-match ban after accumulating five bookings.
